Project manager (New York)
Full-time in New York City
We're looking for a project manager to join our fast-growing team in New York. You'll be the engine that keeps our Fortune 500 clients, creative team, and projects moving like a well-oiled machine. And you'll make us known as much for our great service as for our great creative work.
This means you'll not only keep projects running steadily on the rails, you'll also look ahead to spot anything that could make them go off the rails. Day-to-day, you'll support the senior project manager. And you'll work with the account and new biz teams on follow-ups to keep conversations going and new business flowing.
What kind of person are you?
Like all of us at The Writer, you’re a bit of a language geek who’s keen to help brands and businesses cut through the corporate-speak and find their voice – and make the world a better place for it.
You’ve got some work experience under your belt. Maybe you were a production assistant at a film company or an event manager organizing concerts and corporate parties. Or, you're a project manager at a creative agency right now. We'll just want you to have a year or two of experience planning complex projects with lots of people and deadlines to manage.
You like numbers and spreadsheets. Our project managers deal with a lot of detailed information, from juggling calendars and tracking client budgets, to doing in-depth profitability analysis. So you'll need to be someone who sweats the small stuff.
But you're a people person too. You like learning about our clients and finding the best ways to work with them. And you don't mind answering lots of questions from our creative team, account managers, or clients. People would say you're just as approachable as you are organized.
You’re a juggler and multitasker. Jumping from a client call to a scheduling meeting, and still making sure we're hitting the deadline for that website that’s going live at the end of the day? You’re not fazed.
What will you be doing?
- You'll make sure your clients are happy and that our projects run smoothly. That means understanding what your clients need, and how our services can help. And making it all happen, from creating project plans to spotting red flags before they become a problem. It means delivering work on time and on budget. And it doesn't end there: you'll ask for feedback from clients when a project's done and work with the account team to make adjustments on anything funny for next time.
- You'll work closely with all our teams: accounts, new biz, and creative. You'll want to be as approachable and collaborative as you are organized and strategic. Because you'll need to contribute to team meetings, work with us to prep quarterly and annual client reviews, and apply what you're learning from clients to everything we do.
- You'll keep things in order. You're not just the make-it-happen person for our clients: you're the make-it-happen person for our team, too. That means scheduling our creative team's time in Paprika (our scheduling tool), invoicing clients each month, and keeping track of your clients' revenue.
Sound like you?
If so, head to our application page and send us three things: your resume, 300 words on why you’re the perfect person for the job, and two references we can talk to. (You'll need those handy when you click the link.)
